SPOTLIGHT ON HALI MAGAZINE

ALL COVERS COURTESY OF WWW.HALI.COM

Books and Magazines are an essential source for visualists of every field. For people like you and me who love all matters interior, Hali Magazine is a definite must browse. To me, textiles and carpets are like useable Art. Functional but also an item that requires depth of knowledge and craftsmanship for  skilful creation. Much like paintings too. I love this magazine because it's solely dedicated to carpets and textiles. Yes, there are other articles sprinkled here and there about matters concerning textiles which mightn't be strictly relevant but other than that, this whole publication is solely dedicated to Textiles and Antique carpets.

My favourite part of the magazine would definitely have to be the cover. The font ( which is terrific, by the way ) combined with the singular feature textile piece of the month makes for a simple yet supremely attractive cover. Inside you'll find dozens of beautiful photos of amazing carpets as well as details about the history of certain patterns, materials and makers too. Hali comes out four times per year and you can subscribe via their website but they've generously granted access to a selection of their editorial articles on their website, which I highly recommend here.

I think what makes the history of textiles so special is that it is a painstaking process. When I look at pieces such as Medieval tapestry, I can't help but wonder how many man hours it took to produce something so fine. Although I am no expert in the textile world or industry, Hali is definitely a source for my interior decoration wanderings and I hope you'll take a look next time you're in stores.
